Yesterday, HONOR Philippines conducted a small media gathering session to talk about its plans for the Philippine market. The brand has received quite the warm welcome in the country, thanks to its portfolio of value-for-money devices like the HONOR Play.
More than just having the proper hardware, another huge aspect of the entire user experience is the software. HONOR gave a quick briefing about HarmonyOS, and the role that it will play in the company’s ecosystem of devices, and how it caters to the 5G era.
HarmonyOS uses a microkernel design that sort of compartmentalizes the different services, the more critical ones separated from the rest. This makes it less prone to attacks. It also delivers a more optimized way of prioritizing tasks by precise resource scheduling, real-time load analysis and forecasting.
The new OS also aims to bring a more seamless experience across all devices, and with HUAWEI ARK Compiler, developers can easily create apps that can be published to multiple devices, regardless of whether it’s in Java, C/C++, JS, and even Kotlin.
Apart from HarmonyOS, the brand also talked about the first product that it will run on, HONOR Vision. It’s a 4K UHD TV that packs a Honghu 818 chipset to deliver stunning picture quality and immersive sound. It also features Magic Image Processing Engine 7, which takes care of the dynamic range, noise reduction, dynamic contrast improvement, among other tasks. It’s also able to play 4K videos smoothly.
For an unmatched listening experience, HONOR Vision is equipped with six 10W speakers, and is the first Smart Screen with Hi-Res Wireless Audio. It even has Histen, which brings features like Smart Bass and Dialogue Enhancement. It packs a flagship level Wi-Fi chipset for seamless connectivity, and has Bluetooth 5.
For 1080p video calls, the device even has a 4MP pop-up camera, which can also be used for facial recognition, body tracking, and posture recognition.
While the full details aren’t out yet, HONOR is set to bring HONOR Vision to the Philippines. As a bonus, they’re also bringing the Honor 9X, to the delight of smartphone lovers out there, along with a number of new accessories.
Present during the gathering is the President of HONOR Asia Pacific, Mr. Owen Ou, and SVP for HONOR Business Consumer Marketing and Service, Mr. Kevin Wu, who both expressed their sincerest gratitude to the media for their support and at the same time, answered some questions related to the company’s products.
