The Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro have been launched and look to continue the success of the Redmi Note 7 series! The Note 8 is a well-specced and affordable handset, while the Note 8 Pro is the first officially announced smartphone with a 64MP camera.
The Redmi Note 8 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset. The SoC is based on the 11nm process and has eight Kryo 260 cores with four clocked at 2.2GHz and the rest clocked at 1.8GHz.
The base Note 8 has a 6.3-inch LCD Full HD+ display. With an LCD display, the more affordable phone has its fingerprint scanner on the rear compared to the in-display trend.
Speaking of the rear, it has a four-camera set up on the upper right corner of the back of the phone. It is headlined by a 48MP with the latest Samsung ISOCELL GM2 sensor. There’s an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. Tucked away in its notch is a 13MP front camera.
A 4000mAh battery with 18W charging speed gives the device its juice. It also has a USB-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom of the phone.
The Redmi Note 8 comes in three colors – Black, White, and Dream Blue. It comes in three memory combinations at different price points. The first is 4GB/64GB variant is available for CNY 999 (around PHP 7,290). It comes in 6GB/64GB for CNY 1,199 (around PHP 8,750) and 6GB/128GB for CNY 1,399 (around PHP 10,210) as well.
While the Redmi Note 8 Pro is a 6.53-inch phone with an LCD Full HD+ panel with slim bezels.
The defining design and feature that differentiates the two phones is the camera set-up. While they both share a quad-camera setup, the Note 8 Pro has its camera module in the middle of the phone. Along with this, of course, is the first-ever 64MP main shooter coupled with the same 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP depth, 2MP macro as the more affordable device. In the notch is a 20MP camera.
The Redmi Note 8 Pro packs the Mediatek Helio G90T, the first smartphone with the new SoC. This is partnered with 6/8GB RAM and 64/128GB internal storage. Rounding out the specs is a 4500mAh battery with 18W quick-charging.
Because of the gaming chipset, the Pro version also has a liquid cooling chamber to help with heating.
The Remi Note 8 Pro was announced to come in Black, Green, and White. It is priced at CNY 1,399 (around PHP 10,210) for the 6GB/64GB variant and CNY 1,799 (around PHP 13,130) for the 8GB/128GB option.
