2019 Taiwan Excellence eSports Cup kicked off on a high note this October at the SM City North EDSA, The Block Atrium in Quezon City. For three days, Taiwan-based gaming brands were able to showcase their new products, eSports tournaments were held, and even a cosplay competition was done, taking the attention of eSports fans, gaming enthusiasts, media personnel, and VIPs.
The first day of the event kicked-off with an energetic dance number from the Upeepz Dance Crew, followed by the welcoming remarks by Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) Director Mr. Wen Chun-Chang and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) Director Mr. Clement Chen. Both of whom highlighted the importance of the Taiwan ICT industry’s support for the local eSports community.
Celebrity cosplayer and actress Myrtle Sarrosa was also present, and got first dibs in experiencing products on display at the free-for-all brand booths.
Some of the products that she tried were the ASUS Republic of Gamers’ ROG Zephyrus S (the world’s lightest and thinnest gaming laptop), Gigabyte’s Z390 Aorus WaterForce Xtreme motherboard, Aorus memory cards and video cards, AVerMedia’s plug-and-play AM310 USB microphone and Live Streamer Cam 313, InWin’s WINBOT Limited Edition Transparent Spherical case, Kingmax Semiconductor, memory cards and external portable SSDs from Transcend and TForce, Zyxel’s tri-band Wi-Fi system, and peripherals from XPG, Zadak, and G.Skill.
Gaming desktops were also set up for guests to use in playing games such as CS:GO or League of Legends. Fans were also able to take photos with the cosplayers and jammed with pop rock band Gracenote.
CS:GO and LoL tournaments were also held, and were hosted by shoutcasters Nomadph, llustrado, G10 and Een Mercado. Celebrity cosplayer Ashley Gosiengfiao also made an appearence to meet with her fans.
Winner’s Circle
Bren Esports dominated the CS:GO tournament, while CX Blanc rose to the top of the LoL tournament. Both teams winning the grand prize of PhP56,000 in cash. Each member also got to take home an ASUS ROG Delta Headset, ROG Collection Shirt, ROG Armor Suit Backpack, and PhP2,000 worth of Sodexo Gift Certificates.
Apart from the prizes, Bren Esports will also be representing the country in a CS:GO friendly match against teams from Malaysia, Thailand, India and Taiwan.
Cosplay competition was judged by representatives from TAITRA along with cosplayer, game streamer and video content creator Kang Dupet, as 30 contestants battled it out with their best CS:GO and LoL-inspired costumes. Izaiah Luke Buelos took home the grand prize of PhP40,000, while runners up Sergio Sta. Ana and Nicholai Dizon took home PhP20,000 and PhP10,000 in cash, respectively.
Guests who registered for the event also had the chance to win awesome prizes from the Shopping List, Guess Whose Logo and Scavenger List games.
The 2019 Taiwan Excellence eSports Cup is organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT), the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), with brand partners ASUS Republic of Gamers, Aorus, AVerMedia, In-Win, Kingmax, Transcend, XPG, T Force, Zadak, G.Skill, and
