Let’s face it – one of the biggest hurdles to achieving a full-screen design is the presence of the front camera, which is why so many things have been done to move it somewhere else, one of which is using a motorized pop-up mechanism.
Now though, it seems that one manufacturer is taking it a step further, as an OPPO patent, supposedly found in the China National Intellectual Property Administration database shows a design that puts the pop-up mechanism on the side.
Now, not all patents make it to an actual product, but if you think about it, this design does make sense if you’re fond of taking selfies in landscape mode, but then again, smartphones can already change the orientation of photos, regardless.
Maybe it was just a crazy idea after all, and OPPO just made sure they had the patent for it, in case it becomes usable in the future.
