In aim of showcasing the latest innovations in camera technology, Canon recently launched its newest flagship DSLR to the Philippine market. Welcome, the EOS-1D X Mark III.
EOS-1D X Mark III utilizes Canon’s newest AF sensor, which offers up to 191 AF points. All of which support exposure of up to f/8, with 65 cross-type AF points at f/8. This make the device suitable for sports and and wildlife photography. The new sensor is also 40 times faster compared to the sensor on the EOS-1D X Mark II.
It also uses the new DIGIC X image processor, which offers an increased ISO speed of up to 102,400. There’s also a dedicated DIGIC 8 processor for the camera’s AF management and control of its 400,000-pixel RGB+IR metering sensor. It also uses a newly developed 16-point low pass filter to reduce moire and color distortion.
The camera is also one of the first to support HDR PQ HEIF, a 10-bit recording standard for stills. HEIF files can be easily converted to JPEG format. This features eliminates the need for RAW development retouching and gamma adjustment process.
Burst shooting using the EOS-1D X Mark III now has increased speeds of 16 fps and up to 20 fps for Live View shooting for both RAW + JPEG recording. It also offers unprecedented tracking and focusing accuracy, even for fast moving subjects and during burst shooting at a speed of up to 20 fps.
The camera stores its images in the new dual CFexpress card slots – today’s leading format in high-speed data transfer. Alongside its extended buffer memory, means you can take up to 1000 RAW shots, which is 5 times more compared to the EOS-1D X Mark II.
It’s the first full-frame from Canon to feature 4K UHD (3840 x 2160, 16:9) video recording with no cropping. Additionally, it also supports the 4K DCI (4096 x 2160, 17:9) standard, established by the Digital Cinema Initiative, as well as H.265 HEVC encoding – that means wide gradation, vivid color range, and a small file size.
Using its HDMI 4K 60p output/Canon Log 10-bit output, the EOS-1D X Mark III is able to transmit 4K movie data to another device for display or external recording. Moreover, it also supports Canon Log YCbCr 4:2:2 10-bit video output and ITU-R BT.2020 color gamut output.
In-camera 5.5K 60p RAW is also available for shooting HDR clips, high-contrast scenes, and scenes that require advanced editing. High-Speed movie shooting can be done at 120p and 100p at FHD.
EOS-1D X Mark III uses a built-in GPS receiver with support for SuperSpeed Plus USB (USB 3.1 Gen 2) transfer speed. It also has built-in Wi-Fi with FTP functions, including the WFT-E9 that comes with dual antennas compatible with dual band (2.4GHz/5GHz).
Built with rugged use in mind, the EOS-1D X Mark III is outfitted with a shutter mechanism durability of approximately 500,000 cycles, along with a sturdy magnesium alloy body with dust and moisture resistance features.
