MediaTek recently unveiled a new mid-range gaming chipset – Helio G80. It’s Positioned between the flagship Helio G90 and the recently launched Helio G70 SoCs.

The G80 is built on the 12nm process and offers 2x Cortex-A75 cores at 2.0GHz alongside 6x Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8GHz in an octa-core CPU. The configuration is close to the G70 chipset but with a higher clock speed for the 6x Cortex-A55 cores.

Another similarity between the G80 and the G70 is that they share the same Mali-G52 GPU. However, the G80 features a 950MHz GPU compared to the 820MHz of the G70.

Some of the high-end features like HyperEngine Game technology and built-in Voice on Wakeup are also available on the G80. These, of course, improves gaming experience and lowers power consumption for voice assistant services, respectively.

HyperEngine has many benefits to it, one of them is the smart switching between LTE and WiFi connections during gameplay when the system detects a slower connection.

The MediaTek Helio G80 is expected to launch with new smartphones later this month in India.

He would then transition to focus more on the world of tech which has also began his journey into learning more about this world. That said though, he still has the mentality of "as long as it works" for his personal gadgets.
