The upcoming Nubia Red Magic 5G may just be the dream smartphone that gamers have been waiting for, as it demonstrated true 144fps mobile gaming.
GameBench, the popular benchmarking site, got their hands on a pre-release unit with 12GB of RAM. True enough, the device reached a median fps of 144 with the minimum at 142 during tests. This is while running Real Racing 3.
What’s even more impressive is that the device was able to maintain peak performance without any significant drops.
For PUBG and Arena of Valor, FPS capped at 90fps and 60fps, which of course means that these games don’t support higher refresh rates, yet.
The phone will reportedly have a 144Hz display, and Qualcomm is putting forth its efforts to achieve sync between the GPU and the display. Nubia Red Magic 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 865 and is equipped with active cooling to minimize thermal throttling.
Things are bound to get more exciting as more games start to support higher framerates.
