Black Shark, the Xiaomi sub-brand, has just released its latest gaming phone – the Black Shark 3 and 3 Pro. Both devices will hit the Chinese market first and later will be available in the global market.
Black Shark 3 Pro
The Pro version has a larger display than the base version along with additional features.
The Black Shark 3 Pro has a 7.1-inch QHD+ OLED panel at 90Hz. It also boasts 270Hz touch-sampling rate, which is the world’s fastest.
Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, this offers 5G support. In addition to 5G, it also has WiFi 6 support. The processor is partnered with either 8GB or 12GB RAM. The 8GB version has LPDDR4X memory, while the 12GB variant comes with the latest LPDDR5 memory. There’s 256GB of internal storage.
As far as cameras go, it comes a 64MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture with a 13MP ultra-wide angle lens and a 5MP depth sensor. Its front camera, on the other hand, is a 20MP shooter.
The Black Shark 3 Pro packs a 5000mAh battery which supports 65W charging. It is said to go from 0% to 100% in 38 minutes. In addition, it does have a magnetic charger in the back with 18W fast charging. The magnetic charger will come in handy in gaming sessions.
The Pro model also has pop-up triggers. The physical pop-up buttons replace the touch-sensitive air triggers and ensure at least 300,000 pop-ups without any issues.
Black Shark 3
The base version has a smaller 6.67-inch display and lower FHD+ resolution. It also has a smaller 4720mAh battery. It comes in three storage options – 8GB/128GB. 12GB/128GB, and 12GB/256GB. The other specs are pretty much the same.
Design-wise the two phones are identical. Metal and glass have been used for the build of the phones, it doesn’t have holes or cutouts on the front for its camera. It also has improved sandwich-like cooling with double the heat pipes compared to the Black Shark 2. In addition, the Black Shark 3 series has 3.5mm audio jacks.
The Black Shark 3 comes in three colors – Lightning Black, Armor Gray, and Star Silver, while the Pro only comes in Phantom Black and Armor Gray. The vanilla version will go on sale on March 6 starting at CNY 3,499 for the 8GB/128GB version. The Black Shark 3 Pro, on the other hand, starts at CNY 4,699 for the base 8GB/256GB configuration which will be available on March 17.
