Data from Counterpoint Research shows Samsung’s Exynos chipset division has overtaken Apple as the third-largest supplier in the smartphone industry.
Exynos chips achieved a 14.1% market share in 2019, 2.2% better compared to the year before, reason being is its growth in North America and India. Apple, on the other hand, is down 0.5% to 13.1% share, ahead of Huawei.
Samsung has already used MediaTek chips in some of its devices on the lower end of the spectrum and plans to use more to release affordable 5G devices.
Qualcomm and MediaTek still maintain their top positions with 33.4% and 24.6% market share, respectively.
