At a local Chinese event, Huawei CEO Richard Yu announced Huawei’s own bank card along with the new P40 series.
Heavily backed by Huawei Pay, the Huawei Card will have annual fees, much like a regular credit card.
As a welcome bonus, Huawei is waiving the said fees for the first year for all users. Those who will meet a certain quota in transactions will also have the 2nd year free of fees. The company promises certain perks, such as cash backs, VIP lounge access, and other travel bonuses. I guess we can also assume you’ll get some sort of discount at partner retailers.
The system will operate via a UnionPay backend to process payments, and there’s also NFC for contactless transactions.
As for your privacy concerns, Huawei has made a promise to handle the card’s digital copy of the data with utmost care and security.
There’s still no official schedule for an actual release, but we’re betting we’ll have more info in the coming days.
