Remember the days when having a big battery on a smartphone was a luxury? well, these days, almost every device that’s coming out has at least a hefty 4,000mAh power pack.
Of course, having a big battery that takes too long to recharge is counter-productive, and Qualcomm knows that too, so they announced the new Quick Charge 3+ standard, which they claim is set to bring advanced charging at lower price points.
The new technology basically allows charging from 0% to 50% in a staggering 15 minutes, apart from being 9 degrees cooler and up to 35% more efficient (vs previous generation). The standard supports both Type-A and Type-C connections as well.
Quick Charge 3+ is backward-compatible with previous-generation Quick Charge devices and newer devices will also work with Quick Charge 3+ accessories.
It will initially be available for Snapdragon 765 and 765G.
