Just recently, we did a live unboxing of this smartphone, and we confirmed that this is the version of realme 6 that a lot of you have been waiting for. From performance to other features, this seems to be the hero realme 6 version for consumers.

Here’s everything inside the box:

Realme 6 Product Photos 23realme 6 specifications:

  • Mediatek Helio G90T
  • 8GB RAM
  • 128GB ROM, UFS 2.1
  • 6.5” 90Hz Display with FHD Resolution
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 5 Protection
  • 90.5% Screen-To-Body Ratio
  • Main Camera: 64MP (Main), 8MP Ultra-Wide, 2MP Portrait, 2MP Macro
  • Front Camera: 16MP

In this first impressions, let me zero into 3 topics: Helio G90T, Video features and design.

Power in a budget

One of the key features of this new processor isn’t just something that will benefit gamers and power users. If Snapdragon 720G has a 64MP sensor camera, this smartphone that is powered by Mediatek offers the same thing. We’ll talk more about its cameras later.

Realme 6 Product Photos 11If you take a look at it, what realme did is that they have a version that caters to consumers who want a realme 6 pro. With this processor, realme 6 has everything it needs to satisfy the needs of consumers. Knowing realme, a huge chunk of their marketing push gravitates towards gamers. With gamers as their focus, this processor has the necessary features to benefit gamers like Hyper Boost Technology, 14% Better Touch Speed and 18% Better Frame Rate Stability.

Since SoC supports 90Hz display, realme also made sure to maximize the one on this smartphone. So yes, this device also supports games that goes beyond 60fps like Alto’s Oddyssey, Non-Stop Knight and Real Racing 3.

For Creators

realme 6 is a video production powerhouse of a smartphone. I’m surprised to see premium features here that you will normally find in phones like Samsung Galaxy S20 and OnePlus 7 Pro.

Realme 6 Product Photos 9Here’s a quick rundown of the major video features of this device:

  • Ultra Image Stabilization Video (UIS) Max
  • Shoot up to:
    • 4K 30fps
    • Full HD 120fps
    • HD 240fps
    • 120fps Slow-Mo Selfie
  • Once update rolls out, this will have the capability to let you do
    • Real-time bokeh selfie

I don’t know if you can hear this, but when you gently shake the smartphone, you will hear a faint sound that’s coming from inside the rear camera module. I would like to think that this is the module for optical image stabilization. It is not OIS though. What UIS Max is a clever use of the ultra-wide sensor, cropping and gyroscope.

Another thing that I would like to tell you is its capability to shoot 120fps at HD. If you’re into shooting brolls with speed ramps, then it will make sense to have a smartphone that can shoot up to 120fps. There’s also an option to shoot up to 240fps via slo-mo mode, which can also be an option.

There are 3 drawbacks here, which I should tell – focusing can still be improved, you will need to shoot videos with ample lighting and there is no manual or pro mode for video.

Oh and before I forget, when you shoot video with this device, it does not lock you out from using the ultra-wide lens. This is a big advantage over realme 6 Pro.

As usual, we’ll post sample videos pretty soon so consider this as a quick tease from us.

Inspired by Comet

Last but not the least, let me talk about the design. If you look at it, the overall design of the realme 6 does not deviate from the realme 6 Pro. It’s smaller in terms of build, but I like the fact that realme tried to make it still look distinct. In this case, we’re talking about its back panel that is inspired by a comet. It’s shiny that bends the reflection of light, which then creates a good blend of white and cream and small hints of green and yellow.

Also, while the device is not IP-68, Realme said that the device’s ports and loudspeaker are equipped with seal and anti-dust mesh to effectively prevent water drop penetration.

That’s about it guys! That’s everything I’d like to say about the Realme 6! It is the phone you have been waiting for from realme, and this is shaping up to be another crowd favorite.
