The Indian government recently dropped the ban hammer on at least 59 Chinese apps in an attempt to safeguard the interests of the country’s mobile and Internet users, as well as to ensure the safety of the Indian cyberspace.
The Ministry of Information Technology claimed that it had been receiving complaints about certain mobile apps in both Android and iOS platforms stealing and transmitting user data in an unauthorized manner, to servers outside India.
The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, Ministry of Home Affairs also recommended the blocking of the apps, also having received representations raising concerns regarding data security and privacy.

The ban also comes amid a current stand-off in Ladakh with Chinese troops.
