OPPO A92 has a Snapdragon 665, 5000mAh battery and stereo speakers! Just how much is OPPO going to price this smartphone?
This is the OPPO A92, and at this time, I still don’t know how much they are going to price this. Nevertheless, it’s worth talking about these 3 topics along with the other features that this phone presents to us.
OPPO sent this phone to us for our first impressions and full review. Our review will come in a few days, and you can check it out on Gadget Pilipinas pretty soon.
Before we discuss its hero features, let me give you a quick look at its specifications:
It has a 6.5-inch display with resolution of 2400 x 1080. Pixels per inch is pretty impressive too at 405. As mentioned, this is powered with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 and 8GB RAM. Internal storage is 128GB, and it’s worth noting that it is UFS 2.1 for fast transfer speeds. It also has 5000mAh and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
In terms of camera specs, we are talking about a phone with a 48MP main camera, along with 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP retro style and 2mp black and white or monochrome. I don’t know where OPPO is getting their terms here since it’s my first time to hear something like retro style camera. Usually, lower megapixel lens are for enhancing depth of field and macro. In the case of OPPO A92, these lower specced lens are for style and monochrome. We’ll talk more about this in the next few weeks, but based on my evaluation, OPPO seems to be more focused on bringing out some colors and contrast with the photos taken with the main cameras. This is also going to be very helpful when taking photos with Ultra Night Mode 2.0.
Also, here’s a quick walkthrough of the device. You have a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom. Beside it is a microphone, type C port and one of the dual stereo speakers. Sim tray is at the left side, just above the volume rockers. The side-mounted fingerprint sensor that combos as sleep/wake button is on the right side.
Now, let’s get down to talking about our 3 main topics for today.
Let’s start with Snapdragon 665.
This is a midrange chipset, and features 4 Kyro 260 silver high-efficiency cores operating at 1.8Ghz and another 4 Kyro 260 gold operating at 2Ghz. Whether you’re using applications and games that require multiple cores or not, the phone can definitely support it with support coming from its 8GB RAM.
The GPU that is pre-installed on Snapdragon 665 is Adreno 610. It has full support for Vulkan 1.0, OpenGL ES 3.2, Open CL 2.0 and DirectX 11. With this GPU, you can expect an average performance of 30fps when playing PUBG at low settings and Mobile Legends. We’ll definitely get into these tests in our full review.
OPPO A92 isn’t the first device to have this chipset. You have OPPO A5 2020, A9 2020, A11, A52 and A92. For other brands, Snapdragon 665 also powers Realme 5 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, to name a few.
Next, let’s talk about its 5000mAh battery.
While Snapdragon 665 has smart energy-saving features, it’s just good to know that this device has chunky battery capacity. 5000mAh is good enough to play your games for quite some time without being tethered to your charger. Speaking of charger, OPPO included an 18W fast charger, which should give your smartphone a 0 to 50% battery juice for 35 to 40 minutes charging. This would have been better had OPPO included VOOC charging fast charging technology with this one. Since the chipset does not support Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0, you are basically stuck with the fast charger that OPPO included out of the box.
Lastly, let’s focus on its dual stereo speakers.
It isn’t easy to find a midrange smartphone that is equipped with Dual Stereo speakers. You will normally find it in flagship smartphones like One Plus 7 Pro, iPhone XS Max and Galaxy Note 10+. This smartphone has dual stereo speakers, and this is a compelling point of purchase for consumers who are into gaming and watching multimedia content.
And before I forget, which I think is also important when talking about consuming media content, this is also Widevine L1 certified. This DRM technology is required in order to stream contents from popular streaming sites frpm 720p to 4K.
There you have it. Expect more video and written contents about OPPO A92 in the next few days only here at Gadget Pilipinas.
