iQOO, vivo’s sub brand, has just officially unveiled Super FlashCharge 120W at a press conference held in China. The high-power fast-charging solution is expected to arrive in smartphones as early as this August.

The technology is said to top up a 4,000mAh battery in 15 minutes. This is done by lining up the battery cells in a new specific array.

iqoo-super-flashcharge-120W-2The current is converted from 20V to 6A to 10A at 12V, split into two equal circuits at 5A at 12V that charge two 2,000mAh cells. This does require extra graphite layers and some additional internal cooling to keep the temperature down and protect the electronics though.

The conference was brief at 15 minutes and while iQOO detailed the technology behind the Super FlashCharge 120W, it did not reveal which device is getting the new fast-charging technology. Given that iQOO is gaming-centered, it might be safe to assume that one of the first devices to feature the technology will be a gaming device. Although, we wouldn’t be too surprised to see Super FlashCharge 120W on a regular smartphone as well.
