OPPO has just unveiled the OPPO A72 5G. This is the 5G model of the OPPO A72 which was released in April.
OPPO A72 5G shares the same 6.5-inch FHD+ LCD display but the 5G model comes with a 90Hz refresh rate on its panel. The 5G model also packs the recently announced MediaTek Dimensity 720 chipset along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
A72 5G surprisingly gets a downgrade in the camera department. It has an 8MP front shooter and triple rear camera setup with a 16MP main, 8MP ultrawide, and 2MP depth sensor. The 4G variant has a 16MP front lens and a quad-camera setup at the back comprised of a 48MP main, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor.
The new device also has a smaller 4040mAh battery pack with 18W fast charging support via a USB-C port. This is even more surprising because both 5G and the 90Hz refresh rate panel takes more power.
The new 5G model runs on ColorOS 7.2 on top of Android 10. It also features Dirac 2.0 sound enhancements, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
OPPO A72 5G is available in three colors and priced at CNY 1,899. Pre-orders have begun in China with it being officially sold on July 31.
