The ASUS Zenfone 7 series, the latest generation of the Zenfone series, is officially here – meet the ASUS Zenfone 7 and Zenfone 7 Pro.
Zenfone 7 series is built around a 6.67-inch NanoEdge 90Hz refresh rate Samsung AMOLED panel with 1080p+ resolution and Gorilla Glass 6 for protection. Its displays feature 200Hz sampling rate, a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, 110% DCI-pP3 coverage, DC dimming for flicker-free low-brightness operation, and an accurate color calibration out of the box.
Both boast a series 6000 aluminum body sandwiched between two layers of glass. The rear glass has Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Zenfone 7 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 coupled with 6GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB UFS 3.1 storage. Zenfone 7 Pro, on the other hand, has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage.
Like its predecessor, Zenfone 7 series packs a flip camera module but takes it further with a telephoto camera and improvements in the mechanism itself.
The mechanism of the camera now uses a smaller motor with more than double the torque. Its connection to the body has also been improved for the second iteration and is now rated for 100 flips a day for five years straight. It can also withstand 35kg of weight pushing it forward when open.
As for the lenses themselves, there’s the 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor partnered with a 12MP ultra-wide Sony IMX363 sensor and the new 80mm telephoto lens.
The main camera can record videos up to 8K 30fps, 120fps slow motion in 4K, in addition to HDR video mode. The ultra-wide lens offers Dual Pixel Auto Focus and up to 4K video recording which is used for the HyperSteady Video mode. The AF system can focus at just 4cm making it quite a formidable macro lens.
Zenfone 7 and 7 Pro shares the same camera setup, though the Pro version has OIS on the telephoto lens and main camera.
The devices draw power from a massive 5000mAh battery with 30W fast charging support, which is a welcome addition.
The fingerprint scanner is side-mounted on its power button which doubles as a Smart key which can be used for Google Voice Assistant or customized. The two phones also drop the 3.5mm headphone jack but offer aptX Adaptive support.
In addition to the charger and cable, the duo will also come with an Active Case which serves to protect both the phone and the flip camera. It has a latch that locks the flip mechanism in place.
The ASUS Zenfone 7 series will be released globally on September 1. The two phones come in two colors – Aurora Black and Pastel White. The Zenfone 7 is available for NT$ 21,990 in Taiwan for the lone 6GB/128GB variant. The Pro is priced at NT$ 27,990 for 8GB/256GB.

He would then transition to focus more on the world of tech which has also began his journey into learning more about this world. That said though, he still has the mentality of "as long as it works" for his personal gadgets.
