Canon has just launched the EOS R5 and EOS R6 in the Philippines. Both are the latest members of the full-frame mirrorless EOS R series and were released in mid-July. Both are equipped with an improved AF system, shooting speeds of up to 20 fps, and in-body image stabilization.
The two new EOS R cameras feature a DIGIC X image processor, the same that debuted in the EOS-1DX Mark III. The top-level image processor has a new algorithm that processes gyro signal data and achieves higher image stabilization effects. The latter comes hand-in-hand with the in-body image stabilization.
The EOS R5 has a 4MP full-frame CMOS sensor offering medium-format resolution. It also sports a dual card slot that supports a CFexpress Type-B and an SD memory card. Transferring is also pretty handy with support for 5GHz and 2.4GHz wireless LAN.
The EOS R6, on the other hand, has a 20MP full-frame sensor and dual card support but can only support two SD memory cards. Unlike the EOS R5, the EOS R6 only has support for 2.4GHz wireless LAN but it still has the FTP and FTPS support.
In addition, the company also unveiled that the latest RF-mounted lenses as well as extenders will arrive in the Philippines. This includes the RF100-500mm and the prime lenses. Availability and price for these lenses weren’t announced though.
The Canon EOS R5 (body only) is available for PHP 254,498, while the Canon EOS R6 (body only) is priced at PHP 165,998. Pre-order runs from August 14-31. The EOS R5 will come with PHP 101,530 worth of items and limited edition Canon items when pre-ordered. On the other hand, pre-ordering the EOS R6 will come with PHP 54,220 worth of items and limited edition Canon items.
