A new MateBook X was earlier announced by Huawei. Now, the Huawei MateBook X laptop is now official with an extended and upgraded touchpad. It also weighs in at 1kg and thin at 13.6mm.
Compared to the Pro version of the device, the MateBook X has a smaller display at 13-inches but retains the 3000×2000 resolution. The display is also a touchscreen and is said to have 100% sRGB and 400 nits of brightness.
The MateBook X is powered by the same Intel Core i5-10210U and Core i7-10510U coupled with either 8GB or 16GB LPDDR3 RAM. As far as storage options go, there’s only the single 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD storage. It gets its juice from a 42Wh pack, down from the 56Wh of the X Pro, but the vanilla Pro is smaller.
The new laptop has limited connection ports with two USB-C ports and a 3.5mm headphone and microphone jack.
It also retains the hidden camera as well as the four speakers. However, it has a new touchpad that is said to recognize different pressure levels and has haptic feedback that feels like a press of a real button. The touchpad has also been expanded to the edge of the chassis.
The Huawei MateBook X comes in four colors – Space Gray, Mystic Silver, Emerald Green, and a Rose Gold-looking model. Pre-orders have begun in China with starting at CNY 7,999 for the Core i5/8GB/512GB variant. Moving up in specs, the Core i5/16GB/512GB is available for CNY 8,999 and the top end Core i7/16GB/512GB is priced at CNY 8,999. The new laptop will be shipped starting August 24.
The company has yet to announce its availability outside of China. It is expected to be announced in one to two months.
