Apart from a couple of new earbuds and smartwatches, Huawei had saved the best for last in its recently-concluded “Seamless AI Life” Product Launch with two new additions to the MateBook series – MateBook X 2020 and MateBook 14 2020.
MateBook X 2020
The MateBook X 2020 boasts a metal unibody design and is the world’s first notebook with an Infinite FullView Display with no wrap around its frame and is smaller than an A4-sized paper. It will be available in several colors – Silver Frost, Sakura Pink, Interstellar Blue, and Forest Green.
The 3K LTPS touchscreen offers 400 nits of brightness, 100% sRGB coverage, and a pixel density of 278ppi. It’s got invisible speakers with two tweeters and two woofers to deliver immersive audio, on-edge dual microphones with a sound pickup range of 5 meters, AI-assisted reverb, and echo removal, and a new cooling system.
Its keyboard offers 1.3mm key travel distance, and the new touchpad has 26% more area, and now has the Huawei share tag built-in for fast detection and quick connection. It’s got 8 Piezoelectric Plates and Full Haptic Feedback.
Under the hood is a 10th Generation Intel Core processor. For connectivity, you get Wi-Fi 6. MateBook X 2020 also has two USB-C ports, comes with a 65W portable fast-charger, and supports SuperCharge for compatible phones and tablets.
As for battery life, it’s up to 9 hours of local video playback or 9 hours of file editing. You also get Huawei Share, allowing for seamless multi-screen collaboration and file-sharing across compatible devices.
MateBook 14
The 15.9mm thin MateBook 14 weighs 1.49kg and packs a 2K FullView touchscreen. Under the hood is an AMD Ryzen 4000 series processor, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage. It comes in two colors – Mystic Silver and Space Gray.
For improved thermal performance, the device employs the new Huawei Shark Fin Fan that boasts 40% thicker blades, 49% more blades, and utilizes ultra-slim high-density S-shaped blades to increase airflow.
The dual fan and dual heat pipe design combined with a 15% reduction in mainboard size increases airflow by 39% and improves heat dissipation. There’s two USB 3.2 ports, a USB-C port, an HDMI port, and a 3.5 headphone jack. It’s equipped with a 56Wh battery.
