It looks like the Huawei Mate X2, expected successor to the Mate X and Mate XS, is in the works after a patent listing with the CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Office) was spotted.

The listing shows an inward folding design and a punch-hole on an alleged 4.5-inch panel. Based on the patent, it also comes with five rear cameras in a rectangular module with the topmost in the module sporting a rectangular shape which means it’s possibly a periscope module.

Overall, its design looks pretty similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 including the side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The hinge on the patent images is pretty interesting as it looks like there are no openings when the device is unfolded. It could be changed when it hits the market but we would want to see how the company implements this.
