Huawei has introduced the MatePad 5G that slots itself in between the flagship MatePad Pro 5G and the MatePad.
The MatePad 5G shares the same 10.4-inch IPS LCD panel with 2000×1000 resolution as the MatePad and the same 8MP front and rear cameras.
Powering the MatePad 5G is a Kirin 820 chipset which brings in a 5G modem and Wi-Fi 6 support. The Kirin 820 has four Cortex-A76 and a Mali-G57 MP6 GPU. Coupled with the chipset are 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage which is expandable via microSD card.
The tablet packs a 7250mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging support. This is charged via a USB-C port which doubles as a headphone port. This does mean that it doesn’t have a 3.5mm headphone jack but it does arrive with a Type-C to 3.5mm adapter in the box.
The new MatePad is compatible with the keyboard cover and the M-Pencil. It also runs on EMUI 10.1 on top of Android 10.
The Huawei MatePad 5G is available in White and Gray. It is currently available for pre-order on vmal.com for CNY 3,200. Currently, a global release is yet to be announced.
