Oculus has just unveiled the successor to its Quest headset – the Quest 2. The new VR headset has improvements all-around including ergonomics, power, and display than its predecessor.
The Oculus Quest 2 is powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 along with 6GB RAM. It offers 1832x1920p resolution per eye, around 50% more than its predecessor, and also boasts support for 90Hz refresh rate.
The new VR headset can also be used alongside a PC with the additional Quest Link accessory for even more horsepower.
The company has further built on the Oculus Insight tracking system. While details on this are scarce, the experience should be better with the Snapdragon XR2.
It weighs 10% less and has an adjustable IPD (interpupillary distance) for an improved ergonomic experience. In addition, there’s support for more additional accessories for added comfort.
Pre-order has begun for the Oculus Quest 2 and it goes for USD 299 but will start being shipped on October 13.
