What is the OPPO Reno4 good at?
Let us cut the chase and tell you what the OPPO Reno4 is good at.
This device gives you better value per every cost of peso. For the sake of fairness, we resubjected the OPPO Reno4 to another round of benchmark and compared it to the Galaxy A71. Despite having outdated chipset, our artificial benchmark yielded of OPPO Reno4 yielded better results than our Galaxy A71. If performance – on paper – is a reference when making a purchase decision, this just shows that if you apply min-max method, OPPO Reno4 is a better purchase as it’s more affordable than the Samsung Galaxy A71.
Most of the games we have played on the OPPO Reno4 didn’t get any significant janks as well, and maintained to be in highly playable states.
Here’s a look at our benchmark results of the two devices:
OPPO Reno4 | Galaxy A71 | |
Antutu | 284,331 | 275,065 |
3D Mark (Sling Shot Extreme) | 2622 | 2473 |
2108 | 2261 | |
PC Mark | 8144 | 7830 |
Geekbench | 524 | 430 |
1655 | 1430 |
This is also, by far, one of the smartphones fitted with an AMOLED screen that is beyond the 20,000 price point.
Another thing that’s really worth looking at on this smartphone is its superb camera performance. While its performance is comparatively similar as the Galaxy A71, it is a better option for bargain hunters out there since it is cheaper. I am also particularly impressed with its Pro mode as it really enabled me to take my toy photography hobby a notch higher and almost at par with more expensive mirrorless cameras.
However, if you can spare PhP4,000 for a Samsung, then this brings me to the next smartphone in this comparison – the Galaxy A71.
What is the Samsung Galaxy A71 good at?
The Galaxy A71 is the superior smartphone in this comparison when it comes to overall specs. From better and more power-efficient chipset, camera set and battery life, the Samsung Galaxy A71 positions itself to be a more premium mid-range option.
Samsung has always displayed its competence when it comes to camera performance. They continued their consistent streak with the Galaxy A71.
Everything worked and in order insofar as the quad cameras are concerned. From its wide lens down to its 5MP depth sensor, the photos it produced using the rear camera look lovely and impressive. I find it typical for Samsung smartphones to have overly saturated images, but not this time.
The same goes for its 32MP front camera. Honestly, I don’t see any point of putting a 32MP camera in front unless you’re someone who uses it as much as you use the rear camera. At this time of Instagram Stories, Snapchat and Tiktok, the demand for having good front camera matters.
What should you get?
Make the OPPO Reno4 as your priority purchase if you meet the following qualifications:
- Your budget is below PhP20,000
- You’re a fan of OPPO
- Gaming on a midrange smartphone matters
- You’re into mobile photography
Meanwhile, we suggest that you buy the Galaxy A71 if you meet the following qualifications:
- You don’t mind spending beyond PhP20,000 in exchange of a phone with a better chipset
- You’re into mobile photography and videography
- Samsung is life!
