Sony has just launched the latest member in its Xperia series – the Sony Xperia 5 II.
The Xperia 5 II is built around a 6.1-inch OLED panel with 1080p+ resolution. The panel also has 240Hz sampling rate, 120Hz refresh rate, and supports HDR and Creator Mode. On the front is a top bezel [yup bezel] for its 8MP front camera.
Around the back are three 12MP ZEISS shooters with T* anti-reflective coating. The main lens is a 1/1.7-inch sensor with OIS, it is accompanied by a 16mm ultrawide camera. The two lenses feature Dual Pixel autofocus. The last lens is a 70mm zoom shooter with OIS.
The body of the phone has Gorilla Glass 6 in both the front and back and has IP68/IPX5 rating for dust and water resistance.
The new Xperia device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and supports 5G. The chipset is paired with 8GB RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of expandable memory.
It houses a 4000mAh battery cell with support for up to 21W fast charging but only comes with an 18W charger out of the box.
The Xperia 5 II also features Battery Care and H.S. (heat suppression) power control which is said to reduce battery degradation. Battery Care allows you to pick a slower charging curve and lets you limit the maximum charge at 90%. HS power control enables a pass-through mode for gaming wherein the phone uses power directly from the charger to lessen the heat generated.
The phone also has a 3.5mm headphone which offers hi-res audio. The same hi-res audio quality can also be experienced with wireless headphones. It also has front-firing stereo speakers. Dolby Atmos and 360 Reality Audio are also supported for further immersion.
The Sony Xperia 5 II will be available in Black, Grey, Blue, and Pink.
The US will get the black version with pre-orders starting on September 29, 2020, for USD 950 and start shipping on December 4, 2020. Europe will get the Black, Blue, and Grey starting Q4 for EUR 900.
Sony will also release two accessories – a stand case and a more traditional case.

That said though, he still has the mentality of "as long as it works" for his personal gadgets.
