Just when you thought wireless charging couldn’t get any faster, Xiaomi comes in and beats its own product with a new 80W wireless charger that can fully charge a 4,000mAh battery in just 19 minutes.
To put it in perspective, the company’s previously announced 55W fast charger was able to charge the Mi 10 Ultra’s 4,500mAh battery to full in 26 minutes (the device supports up to 50W).
To achieve this feat, Xiaomi’s new wireless charging architecture uses an independent coil system, a dedicated chip, MTW multi-pole connectors, dual 6C series batteries on a phone, plus some tweaks on the software side.
It’s uncertain as to when this technology will make it to consumers, but the nearest guess would be its next flagship.
