The Geekbench 5 benchmark score of the upcoming 6nm chipset from MediaTek dubbed the MT6893 has been leaked. It not only outpaced the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ seen in the Redmi K30 Ultra, but it also kept up with the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 used in the OnePlus 8.
The 6nm SoC, based on the benchmark results, will have one primary Cortex-A78 core capped at 3.0GHz. Three other Cortex-A78 cores at 2.6GHz join the main A78 core in addition to four Cortex-A55 cores clocked up to 2.0GHz. In the graphics department, it packs a Mali-G77 MC9.
There are speculations that the chip has two potential variants. These are further backed-up by the appearance of “V1_64” at the end of the code name of the chip.
Not much else is known about the new MediaTek MT6893 but it is expected to have support for LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 storage. The new chipset will hopefully follow the Dimensity as far as price goes and open for more budget-friendly smartphones.
