A report from Chinese leakster Digital Chat Station mentions that MediaTek is preparing two chipsets which are known as MT6839 and MT6891.
The two new chipsets are said to be based on the 5nm or 6nm process, respectively. In addition, they are reported to be armed (yes, pun intended) by Cortex-A78 cores.
The company’s top-of-the-line chipset currently is the Dimensity 1000+ built on a 7nm process and has Cortex-A77 cores.
If the report is true, the two new chips will offer more power-efficiency and performance. Being newer chips, they are also expected to feature 5G modems.
Digital Chat Station also stated that the new chipsets are being developed at a faster pace than its predecessors. That being said, MediaTek is expected to announce the new chipsets before this year ends.
