Sony has unveiled the latest member to its G Master full-frame lens series – the FE 35mm F1.4 GM (model SEL35F14GM).
The FE 35mm F1.4 GM is a pretty compact and portable lens at just 52 grams and measuring in at just 76mm x 96 mm with a filter diameter of Φ67mm. The new lens boasts two XA (extreme aspherical) elements that maintain resolution throughout the image area. These elements also allow for impressive close-ups with a smooth background bokeh.
The new G Master lens also includes an ED glass element and other optical refinements to effectively suppress chromatic aberration and purple fringing.
It also packs two of Sony’s XD (extreme dynamic) Linear Motors which provide high thrust efficiency for precise autofocus and tracking. It also has control algorithms to improve control response and precision while minimizing vibration and noise.
The new G Master lens offers also includes an aperture ring with switchable click stops that can be turned off for movie shooting. It can also be used as a standard 52.5mm lens when used on an APS-C camera or with a Super 35 angle view. Both make them perfect for creating videos.
The body of the FE 35mm F1.4 GM has a dust and moisture resistant design with a fluorine front element coating that repels water, oil, and other contaminants.
The Sony FE 35mm F1.4 GM has been confirmed to arrive in the Philippines in February 2021.
