Xiaomi has officially announced the first Redmi gaming device – the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition after teasing the device earlier this month.
The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition is built around a 6.67-inch 2400×1080 AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 480Hz touch sampling rate. In addition, it has 10-bit colors, HDR10+ support, and DCI-P3 coverage, while a 16MP sits in a punch hole at the top center of the display.
Around the back, it has a triple cameras led by a 64MP 1/2.0-inch Quad-Bayer main camera, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro snapper.
The K40 Gaming Edition has a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset at the helm coupled with 6GB/8GB/12GB of RAM and 128/256GB of internal storage. It has a combination of graphene, graphite, and a vapor chamber for cooling.
It boasts a 5000mAh battery with support for 67W charging that is said to top up the device in 42 minutes. The device also features stereo speakers with Hi-Res Audio and Dolby Atmos support and physical shoulder buttons.
Redmi K40 Gaming Edition pricing and availability
The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition is priced at CNY 1,999 for the base 6/128GB variant. The 8/128GB option goes for CNY 2,199 and the 8/256GB is available for CNY 2,399. It is also available with a 12/128GB configuration which is priced at CNY 2,399 and maxes out with a 12/256GB option for CNY 2,699.
In addition, an exclusive Bruce Lee Special Edition is coming with a yellow back and yellow accessories. It comes with a 12/256GB configuration and is priced at CNY 2,799.
The K40 Gaming Edition is now available for pre-order in China and will officially hit the shelves starting April 30.
