ASUS ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition Launched with Radeon RX 6800M GPU

ASUS has just announced the ASUS ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition at Computex 2021. It is one of the first laptops to feature an AMD Advantage certification (thus the name).

The Strix G15 Advantage Edition is available in two 15.6-inch IPS-level panel options. One option features an FHD resolution, a 300Hz refresh rate, and 100% sRGB. Meanwhile, the other comes with QHD resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. Both support AMD FreeSync Premium and 3ms response time.

The highlight of the Advantage Edition is the newly announced AMD Radeon RX 6800M GPU, which according to ASUS can be clocked at 2,300MHz. Which is drastically higher than the AMD mobile GPUs built on RDNA 1.0 architecture. Not much else is known about the GPU though.

In addition, the new G15 Advantage Edition is powered by up to a Ryzen 9 5900HX processor with 8 cores, 16 threads, and can be boosted to 4.6GHz. The laptop also supports AMD’s SmartShift and Smart Access Memory features.

The new ROG Strix G15 has dual SO-DIMM slots, dual M.2 2280 slots, and a 90Whr battery. As far as ports go, it features the following:

  • x3 USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A
  • x1 USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (DisplayPort and Power Delivery)
  • 3.5mm combo headphone and microphone jack
  • RJ45
  • x1 HDMI 2.0b (HDCP SPEC 2.2)

It measures at 354.9 x 159.9 x 22.69mm and 27.22mm at its thickest point. Regardless of which variant you get, it weighs 2.5kg.

The company has not yet announced when the ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition will be available but it starts at EUR 1,799 in Germany. In addition, it will be joined by a 17-inch model.
