Apple has just launched the Apple Watch Series with a larger and more advanced display. This was launched along with the refreshed iPad, iPad mini, and the iPhone 13 series.
The Apple Watch Series 7 features a re-engineered Always-On Retina panel with 1.7mm bezels. The thinner bezels allow the new Watch series to offer 20% more screen area while being 40% smaller than the Watch Series 6. Its display is also 70% brighter indoors making it easier to see the watch face without lifting or waking the display.
As far as design goes, it has more rounded corners with a unique refractive edge for unique full-screen watch faces and apps. The new Watch series has a more crack-resistant front crystal and first to feature an IP6X rating for dust resistance while still retaining the WR50 water resistance rating.
Apple has optimized the user interface to take advantage of the size and shape of the new display. This includes a new QWERTY keyboard that can be tapped or swiped with QuickPath.
It carries over features like heart rate monitoring, ECG, and SpO2 monitoring while adding an Outdoor Cycle workout mode. Additionally, there’s the new Mindfulness app, sleep respiratory rate tracking, and Tai Chi and Pilates workout types.
The Series 7 is said to provide 18-hour battery life on a single charge and 33% faster charging compared to its predecessor. The improved charging is thanks to its new charging architecture and Magnetic Fast Charger USB-C Cable.
The Apple Watch Series 7 is available in 41mm and 45mm sizes. The new series includes five new aluminum colors – Midnight, Starlight, Green, Blue, and (PRODUCT) RED as well as Silver, Graphite, and Gold stainless steel. There’s also Natural and Space Black titanium as well as Apple Watch Nike and Apple Watch Hermès options. They are compatible with previously released Apple Watch bands.
The Watch Series 7 starts at USD 399, while the Apple Watch SE starts at USD 279 and Apple Watch Series 3 starting at USD 199.
