vivo has officially launched the vivo Imaging Chip V1, the company’s first imaging chip. Details about the chip weren’t revealed but it is a milestone in the company’s independent research and development (R&D) and chip design.
The V1 chip has been in development for 24 months by a team of over 300 individuals. Moving forward, the company will have four strategic directions namely image system, operating system, industrial design, and performance.
vivo Executive VP and COO, Hu Baishan mentions in a statement that “the chip can better serve user needs by optimizing smartphone application scenarios such as viewfinder look and video recording.”
Additionally, he confirmed to Chinese websites that the V1 will debut alongside the vivo X70 series which is scheduled to launch on September 9.
