DJI has just launched the DJI Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine. The two new drones are equipped with two cameras on board.
The Mavic 3 is equipped with a 20MP 24mm wide-angle main camera with an f/2.8 to f/11 aperture in front of a Micro Four Thirds Hasselblad sensor. Meanwhile, the other camera is a 12MP sensor, a 162mm equivalent of focal length, an f/4.4 aperture, and a 1/1-inch type sensor. The main snapper is a large upgrade from the 1/2-inch type sensor on its predecessor.
The main camera on the Mavic 3 supports 5.1K (5120×2700) video recording up to 50fps, DCI 4K (4096×2160) and a regular 4K (3840×2160) at up to 120fps, and 1080p at up to 200fps. The bitrate goes as high as 2000Mbps in H.264 and 140Mbps in H.265. Additionally, you can take JPEG and DNG RAW photos on the main camera.
Meanwhile, the zoom camera can only shoot 4K at 30fps video and JPEG for photos.
The Mavic 3 Cine, on the other hand, has a built-in 1TB SSD instead of 8GB RAM in the Mavic 3. In addition, the 3 Cine can shoot in Apple ProRes 422 HQ and comes with a DJI RC Pro controller.
The two new drones are equipped with a 5000mAh battery that is said to offer up to 46 minutes of flight time in ideal conditions. It charges via USB-C charging in the drone at up to 65W fast charging and is interchangeable. This is an upgrade from the 34 minutes on the Mavic 2 Pro and 30 minutes on the Air 2s.
The two Mavic 3 drones feature O3+ that enhances transmission range to 15km in open landscape and is rated in city range at up to 3km.
Furthermore, they have more sensitive sensors that scan in all directions for improved obstacle avoidance. The new sensors have also allowed for improved the “Return to home” feature.
The DJI Mavic 3 is available for USD 2,199 for the drone and controller and USD 2,999 for the Fly More Combo. The Fly More Combo comes with three batteries, a charger, a carrying case, and a set of ND filters (ND4/8/16/32).
Meanwhile, the Mavic 3 Cine Premium Combo adds the DJI RC Pro remote priced at USD 4,999.
