A report from Weibo revealed that a hinge supplier has started mass production of new hinges for a company. The new hinge is said to require fewer parts than its predecessor, making it cheaper. The post doesn’t mention which company in particular but it is believed to be Huawei.
The Chinese company has been rumored to preparing for its next-generation foldable phone. In addition, it has been going around that the new foldable phone from Huawei will feature a clamshell design similar to the Galaxy Z Flip series. The clamshell design has been rumored as early as July 2020.
The Weibo post also includes renders of the device revealing two different designs which makes it hard to tell how accurate they actually are.
