A few weeks ago, I reported that the Eufy’s state of the art robot vacuum cleaner has finally arrived in the Philippines. The new vacuum cleaner hosts a ton of new features that no other cleaners that I reviewed can actually top off. The roboVac X8 Hybrid is not the cheapest compared to the realme’s and Xiaomi’s offerings, but there are several reasons why that is the case.
No robot vacuum is alike. As much as possible, brands try to make their products different from their competitors. Similar to what I did in my videos and articles about other robot vacuums from other brands, I am here to break down the features, which I believe are the must-haves on the robovac X8 Hybrid.
#1. Hybrid comes at a reasonable price
Let me address the elephant in the room. The roboVac X8 Hybrid by eufy is PhP29,995, and it is undoubtedly pricier than the Lenovo T1 Pro and the realme Robot Vacuum I reviewed in the past. Wondering why this is the case? Here’s why?
The roboVac X8 Hybrid can be used as a mop, sweeper and cleaner. In just one package, you can basically do all these things without having to buy separate modules for your cleaner. The water tank can hold 250 ml of water, and can allow the cleaner to clean up to 180 minutes.
#2. Better Suction Power
One of the features that makes this vacuum cleaner better than the ones I reviewed is the speeds of its turbines. The roboVac X8 Hybrid has a combined Pa Power of 4,000. This ensures that every sweep it makes is efficient. According to eufy, the vacuum is proven to have 93% compression power compared to other vacuums.
In my experience with this robot vacuum, it really performed better than I experienced from my other cleaners. I had our studio renovated and it sucked almost all the grime and dried out paint on the floor. Since the vacuum cleaner also doubles as a mop, I just swapped the main module to the mop attachment and let it clean our studio.
#3. Best for Fur-parents
The suction power of the roboVac X8 also allows it to effectively clean animal fur shedding. Eufy has a fancy name for this – pet hair magnet. Because of the vacuum cleaner’s twin turbines, it can clean up to 57.6 more pet hair. This is one of my major issues with other robot vacuum cleaners. Since they don’t have enough suction power, pet hair (and even human air) gets tangled on the roller bush. This isn’t much of a problem on the roboVac X8 hybrid. It isn’t perfect to be honest, but this definitely performs much better than my previous experience using other machines.
#4. Smart Navigation
What makes a roboVac efficient with its work is its smart navigation system.
In order to discover the most efficient cleaning route for your home, the new robovac makes use of an iPath Laser Navigation technology. In essence, it uses a scanner to scan your home and create a virtual map of the space, which it will remember and utilize each time it is used to clean. In order to navigate, it makes use of Laser SLAM navigation technology, which is an established technology in the field of robot vacuum technology. Several other robot vacuum devices make use of LiDar technology, which is generally more effective at mapping the environment and detecting impediments while cleaning, particularly in low-light situations. Each navigation system has its own merits. I personally find Laser Slam more accurate, but its efficiency gets cut off at low light scenarios. LiDar, on the other hand, is more accurate when light conditions are at their optimum state.
This smart navigation system also allows the RoboVac X8 hybrid to learn and store the map of a specific room, and clean it accordingly. Because of this, you can just instruc it to spot clean a specific section in the room map, determine a No-Go zone when cleaning or simply clean a certain zone in the room.
#5 Google and Alexa Connectivity
One of the things that I like about the latest Robot Vacuums in the market is its seamless connectivity to either Google or Alexa ecosystem. I find this very useful because I can customize its work preset throughout the day or just simply instruct it via Google home.
I am a big fan of Google Home and the majority of my AiOt products at home. I am just so happy that the eufy Robovac X8 Hybrid is fully compatible with it. Unfortunately though, and if I may be honest, it doesn’t work on Apple Homekit. It isn’t exactly a dealbreaker, but it would have been nicer had eufy considered including it in their compatibility.
The eufy Robovac X8 Hybrid is an impressive piece of hardware especially for titos like me. It just meets my expectations and needs, and it’s currently ranking as the best tito-gadget in my books. It isn’t perfect, but it’s definitely the best one I have used so far.
The roboVac X8 Hybrid by eufy is now available for PhP29,995 at Nifty MOA Store (located near Ikea Philippines in Pasay City), selected Anker retail stores around Metro Manila, and online via anker.com.ph, and the eufy Philippines official store in Lazada.
