Huawei has recently unveiled the P50 Pocket, its first clamshell foldable smartphone powered by a Snapdragon 888 4G SoC and uses a patented hinge mechanism to eliminate the visible gap when the phone is closed.
It has a 6.9-inch OLED main display with a resolution of 2790 x 1188 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The cover screen, on the other hand, measures an inch and can be used for a variety of purposes such as showing notifications, the time, and date, as well as for apps for navigation, playing music, and more.
To go with its flagship SoC, the regular P50 Pocket has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while the Premium Edition packs 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The device runs on Huawei’s HarmonyOS.
For optics, there’s a 40MP True-Chroma Camera, a 13MP Ultra-Wide unit, and a 32MP Ultra Spectrum Camera. Upfront, you get a 10.7MP wide-angle snapper housed in a punch hole. Huawei P50 Pocket houses a 4,000mAh battery with support for 40W SuperCharge technology.
The regular variant comes in two colors – black and white, while the Premium Edition, which was made in collaboration with Haute Couture designer Iris Van Herpen, uses flowing patters in gold color.
For pricing, it’s CNY 8,988 for the P50 Pocket (8GB+256GB) and CNY 10,988 for the Premium Edition (12GB+512GB).
