Despite the pandemic having made isolation mandatory to a lot of areas in our country, the local esports community found a way to strive and survive. Physical events were somewhat the bread and butter of the community, but now online activities and interactions feed the growth of esports. OPPO, in partnership with Mineski Global, is an example of the result of this change in the landscape.

The two brands have been supporting mobile gaming by sponsoring local events and tournaments. These include the Philippine Pro Gaming League (PPGL) and the Mobile Professional League (MPL) in which the companies help boost viewership and helped aspiring pro gamers to reach their goals.

OPPO Game On FB Group

OPPO created the Game On community on Facebook to give professional and casual gamers a place they could come together and share their excitement for esports. It also organized community cups and gave away exclusive perks and an opportunity to promote players’ content. This community now has 60,000 members

Moreover, OPPO spearheaded the creation of OPPO-branded games like the OPPO Tower and Where’s Ollie as hyper-casual games grow in popularity. These games are now available in Mineski Global’s mgames platform that is accessible through GCash. Through this, you can enjoy free games and it also has a promotional mode wherein you can win big bonuses up to PHP 1 Million worth. These two games have been reported to have reached over 600,000 players currently.

“2021 has been a remarkable year for Philippine esports. We have proven through our programs and esports infrastructure that the country can develop top talent with teams rightfully earning local, regional, and global accolades across different esports titles. We saw the growth of the mobile gaming market and how Filipinos stood out in the biggest mobile game tournaments such as the League of Legends: Wild Rift Icon Series and the Mobile Legends Professional League. Two All-Filipino teams made it to the finals of M3, where Blacklist International brought home their 2nd championship. We are beyond grateful for OPPO’s support to the gaming community,”

Mark Navarro, Mineski Philippines Country Manager

BLI Champion

OPPO also supported the growth of local talents like the Blacklist International esports team who just won the M3 World Championships last December 2021. The team signed as OPPO’s newest brand ambassadors in June 2021 and since then, they have been supported through receiving OPPO devices and financial support.

“The local esports industry in the Philippines has been bursting at the seams with talent for years and we are proud to have played a part in realizing that potential into concrete, sustainable results. Our partnership with Mineski has allowed us to extend support to the growing esports community and we’re very happy with what we’ve achieved together,”

Ele Yu, Marketing Director of OPPO Philippines
