Sony has just announced the new generation of PlayStation VR dubbed the PlayStation VR2 along with the VR2 Sense Controller at CES 2022.
The PlayStation VR2 takes VR gaming to the next level by offering a next-generation experience with high-fidelity visuals, new sensory features, and enhanced tracking.
Among the upgrades include:
- Visual fidelty: The PS VR2 offers 4K HDR with a 110-degree field of view and foveated rendering. It has an OLED display with a resolution of 2000×2040 per eye and frame rates of 90/120Hz
- Headset-based Controller tracking: The new VR headset now has inside-out tracking that tracks you and your controller through integrated cameras.
- New Sensory Features: It also features PS VR2 Sense Technology that combines eye tracking, headset feedback, 3D Audio, and the PS VR2 Sense controller.
- Eye Tracking: Lastly, the headset detects the motion of your eyes which can create an additional input for the game character for heightened emotional response.
All of these combined with the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers from the PS VR2 Sense controllers offer a more visceral experience.
Additionally, the company has announced the Horizon Call of the Mountain game from Guerrilla and Firesprite that is built specifically for PS VR2.
