For those who want to experience the most compact device in Samsung’s newest flagship lineup, the Galaxy S22 is the perfect cup of tea. It offers the same look and even mostly the same features as the slightly larger Galaxy S22+, but for a lot less.
Like its siblings, the Galaxy S22 is made of Armor Aluminum and boasts an IP68 rating. Its 6.1-inch Full HD+ display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and features 1,300 nits of peak brightness, plus a 120Hz refresh rate.
Under its shell is a 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor that allows for fast 5G connectivity, as well as Wi-Fi 6E, along with 8GB of RAM, and an option of either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, with no provisions for a microSD card.
For optics, Samsung has equipped with Galaxy S22 with a triple rear camera system comprised of a 12MP Ultrawide unit, a 50MP Wide Angle Shooter with Dual Pixel Autofocus and OIS, and lastly, a 10MP Telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, Phase Detection Autofocus, and OIS. At the front, a 10MP camera takes charge of selfies.
For this iteration of the Galaxy S series, Samsung promises brighter and more detailed night shots, using larger pixels that absorb more light, and a redesigned AI ISP that compounds up to 20 photos to drastically reduce noise, along with improved NPU and GPU performance.
Videos are a popular way of sharing our world with others, and the Galaxy S22 allows for Stable Videos using Wider Shift OIS as well as Advanced VDIS that boasts four times faster stabilization by predicting the device’s movement while also analyzing the subject’s movement. Even in a low-light setting, the device can focus on a fast-moving subject with AI-assistance. You also get brighter night portraits, complimented with up to 3x optical zoom.
Galaxy S22 runs Android 12 with Samsung’s One UI 4 and packs a 3,700mAh battery with 25W-fast charging. It comes in Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green, and Pink Gold colors.
