Playstation’s goal is to design a VR headset that will not only look good in your living room but also deliver game world immersion. Focusing on the ergonomics to ensure a comfortable feel for varying head sizes.

Keeping the same concept as its predecessor and listening to user feedback, they kept the balanced headset weight and a simple headband that can be adjusted to your liking. The headset’s adjustable scope and placement of the stereo headphone jack also remain the same.

Furthermore. the PS VR2 headset sports a few more ergonomic features and challenging design like lens adjustment to optimize your view, a slimmer design with weight reduction, and a new built-in motor for the headset feedback.

The company also integrated a new vent design for the VR headset that, according to Yujin Morisawa the Senior Art Director at SIE, you will enjoy.

“When I started to work on the design for the PlayStation VR2 headset, one of the areas I wanted to focus on first was the idea of creating a vent in the headset to let air out, similar to the vents on the PS5 console that allows airflow. Our engineers came up with this idea as a good way to allow ventilation and avoid having the lens fog up while players are immersed in their VR games. I worked on many design concepts to achieve this, and in the final design, you can see there is a little space in between the top and front surface of the scope that contains the integrated ventilation. I am really proud of how this turned out and the positive feedback I have gotten so far. I hope our PlayStation fans will also agree, and I can’t wait for them to try it out.”

Some key features are as follows:

  • 4K HDR
  • State-of-the-art graphical rendering
  • enhanced tracking (inside-out tracking)
  • Headset feedback
  • Intuitive PS VR2 controller
  • single cord setup

As a last note, developer kits were already given to game developers, so let’s wait and see what game worlds and gameplay features they would come up with in the near future. More details will be shared soon.
