Nothing phone (1) to Launch in Summer with Nothing OS

Nothing CEO and co-founder, Carl Pei announced during the Nothing (event): The Truth that the company will introduce the Nothing phone (1), its first smartphone in Summer 2022. The new device will launch along with its custom UI on top of Android, Nothing OS.

Pei mentioned that the Nothing phone (1) will “be a breath of fresh air to the sleepy smartphone” with a unique design.

While he didn’t mention any specifications yet, it was indicated that the company will partner with Qualcomm for the chipset. In addition, it is likely that Sony, Visionox, and Samsung will be among the component suppliers.

It was confirmed that the device will come with a guaranteed three OS updates and four years of Android security updates.

The company also shared a teaser of what is believed to be the device’s back design which may include notification lights and a transparent design.

Nothing OS, on the other hand, will not only be a custom skin on the phone (1), but the launcher will also be available to download and use on select Android smartphones in April. The custom UI is said to offer a smooth and fast user experience without any bloatware or heavy system apps. It will also feature a dot matrix design with font, icons, and widgets having a minimalistic unified look.

Moreover, Pei mentioned dynamic RAM caching that will help hasten the launch of your most-used apps.
