According to Digital Chat Station, a Sony sensor is said to be handed over to manufacturers for testing. The sensor in question is speculated to be the Exmor IMX800 that is expected to debut with the Xiaomi 12 Ultra.
The new sensor is said to be a 50MP lens with 1/1.1” in size. This would make it larger than the current 50MP Samsung GN2 1/1.12” sensor that is used in the Xiaomi 11 Ultra.
As far as the Xiaomi 12 Ultra goes, it is expected to have the aforementioned new 50MP Sony sensor along with two 48MP cameras albeit with hardware upgrades for the 48MP sensors.
