GPD added a new device to its GPD series of handheld gaming devices – GPD XP Plus.
Aesthetically speaking, the GPD XP Plus looks similar to the lower-tier GPD XP device. It has the same Dark Grey aluminum chassis along with a 6.18-inch HD display and a 7,000mAh battery.
However, the new model sports a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 which is an upgrade from the Helio G95 of the earlier model. The SoC features the MediaTek HyperEngine 3.0 which improves gaming performance to 2.5 times better than the Snapdragon 845 chip.
Along with the upgraded processor, the XP Plus has been equipped with a faster 6GB LPDDR4X 4266Mbps RAM and 128 UFS 3.1 storage both of which are also an improvement from last year’s model.
Another highlight of this device is the modular gaming controllers that have 3 configurations – an FPS Controller module, a MOBA Controller Module, and an Xbox Controller Module. The modules all have magnetic connectors that allow the controller to charge wirelessly through the magnetic contacts.
The GPD XP Plus is expected to launch this May 2022 and pre-orders may start on May 1 2022 on Indiegogo.
