LG Display introduced a 17-inch foldable OLED display earlier this year during CES. A report from The Elec claims that HP will soon release a foldable laptop that will use the said panel.
The HP foldable panel that LG provided measures 17 inches when unfolded and 11 inches when folded and features 4K resolution. Reports say that LG will be manufacturing 10,000 units.
In addition, The Elec reports that LG Display is “collaborating with Apple to develop another foldable OLED panel.” It is said that two companies are developing a new panel that will be used for a future foldable MacBook-iPad hybrid device. The new panel is said to use Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) instead of using polyamide.
However, Apple might need a much higher volume and according to Display Supply Chain Consultants, they predict that the foldable MacBook-iPad hybrid device may not show up until 2025.
