The realme 9 Pro+ Free Fire Edition is now finally official in the Philippines. As of this writing, the special edition is now up for pre-order via realme’s official Shopee store with an introductory or promo price of PhP18,990. After the promo preorder period, its price will revert back to PhP20,990.
Now, what is Free Fire anyway? Free Fire was made to give players the best experience possible. Enjoy a variety of exciting game modes with everyone who plays Free Fire thanks to Firelink technology. Ultra HD resolutions and stunning effects let you fight like never before. Aim for the enemy and snipe them. There is only one goal in Free Fire, and that is to live and be the last person standing.
realme’s collaboration with Free Fire extends the gaming experience to the physical level with the realme 9 Pro+. If you missed our unboxing video on TikTok, you can see that Free Fire branding is all over the place, including its box. realme also included a map of the battleground arena, special stickers, knife-theme SIM ejector tool and a free Gift from realme (which grants you a cosmetic item).
In the limited version, there is a Free Fire logo on the bottom of the back panel. The realme logo is now in the center of this device, which was moved from the lower left portion in the original design of the device.
On top of that, the back panel has a two-tone design with a shiny rainbow-like effect on its flanks, as well as a matte Free Fire logo at the top and a matte finish at the bottom.
It also has the words “Booyah!” written next to the back camera.
Despite its significant difference compared to the original version, it did not bear any changes in terms of hardware. It is powered by a 6-nanometer MediaTek Dimensity 920 5G. It is packed with two cores of 2.5 GHz Cortex-A78 and six cores of 2.0 Ghz Cortex-A55. The phone is also installed with a Mali-G68 GPU with 8GB (+3GB virtual) RAM.
Perhaps, one of the things that make it a good midrange gaming device is its 90Hz display with 360hz touch sampling rate. This makes it very responsive, which can be a big deal for a lot of competitive mobile gamers, like the ones who play Free Fire.
realme 9 Pro+ display is easy on the eyes in the dark plus it is relatively bright enough to look at in direct sunlight. It is highly accurate as well, in terms of both color reproduction, temperature and contrast. Texts appear very sharp and images show up with passing color accuracy.
The device has HDR10 support as well as Widevine L1, which makes it an amazing content consumption device. Netflix is available via Google PlayStore and I can confirm that it works without issues.
The smartphone has a prominent camera bump and shows two of its major features: 50mp main camera and OIS, which are the top billing specs of Sony IMX766 sensor. Beside the camera is a “Booyah” logo, which is basically what shows up when you win.
As the Free Fire Edition is very much similar with the original version, you can check out our full video review of the realme 9 Pro Plus below.
