vivo has announced that the vivo X80 series will feature the vivo V1+ imaging chip and will debut on April 25.
The imaging chip supports the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The development process was done closely with MediaTek and resulted in 30 new patent applications.
The vivo V1+ is the first custom image processor that can work with high-end chipsets. In comparison, OPPO’s MariSilicon X is only available to Snapdragon chips.
It can take night shots in situations with less than 1 lux of ambient lighting thanks to its noise reduction algorithm. This is further made possible with the 32MB SRAM and 8GB/s data throughput speed on the chip.
The V1+ chip also announced improvements in image brightness by 16% and white balance accuracy by 12%. Zeiss Natural Color gets an 8.3% improvement in color accuracy and fine tone adjustments as well.
In addition to the camera improvements, the chip can enable more games to run at 90fps or 120fps. Because of this, it could replace the tech from Pixelwroks that is used in current vivo and iQOO devices.
vivo boasts special algorithms that optimize CPU resource allocation that can reduce heat while boosting efficiency for the Dimensity 9000. This improves the power consumption of heavy gaming sessions by up to 10%.
All these are according to vivo though, so we’ll have to wait and see how the vivo V1+ imaging chip performs in the real world.
Ram found his love and appreciation for writing in 2015 having started in the gaming and esports sphere for GG Network. He would then transition to focus more on the world of tech which has also began his journey into learning more about this world. That said though, he still has the mentality of "as long as it works" for his personal gadgets.
