One of the most awaited Marvel films has arrived first in the Philippines – Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and also directed by Sam Raimi.
Thanks to Disney Philippines, the Gadget Pilipinas news team was given a chance to view the movie in all its glory on IMAX 3D.
We were one of the lucky ones that got to see the movie first so here are our Top 5 reasons for you to watch the movie:
- If you are a Marvel fan be it the MCU or the comics – One of the most popular descriptions you will hear is “Mind-Bending”. A lot of the visuals really paid homage to the wackiness and colorful style of modern Marvel comic titles. Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness really pushed the visuals to another level with this one.
- If you are a fan of Sam Raimi or familiar with his other works – As the film progresses, Sam Raimi’s signature manipulation of the environment to create a creepy atmosphere will pop up here and there. His touch can also be seen in how the characters interact with each other including how the story unfolds.
- If you are into films that are seemingly made for the IMAX experience – Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness’ aesthetics and visuals paired with the IMAX 3D experience is a match made in heaven. From the eye-popping colors and the action-filled sequences to the otherworldly shapes flying around, this is a must-see in IMAX at least for us,
- If you are in the animation industry or a fan of high-quality CGI – This is, well at least in our opinion, the best CGI in a Marvel film we’ve seen to date. Integrating realism with mind-bending visuals may be one of the hardest movie tricks to pull off even with sophisticated software and technologies that are currently available.
- If you are a fan of the Parallel Universe/Multiverse Sci-fi trope in General – For non-Marvel fans, the movie can still be very interesting. Without going into spoiler territories, exploring the multiverse and traveling through portals/wormholes are one of the most used but still interesting tropes seen in modern Sci-fi films. Moreover, aside from the grand visuals, a great cast of actors and actresses that really own their roles give life to the movie and add to its realism or groundedness which makes the experience even richer.
With the Philippines among the first to watch Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we wonder why Disney+ is still not available here in the Philippines, Clearly, there are a lot of Filipinos that are into Disney owned franchises and are willing to pay for the service even if we know that pirates and the sale of pirated copies of films are still ravaging the industry and are still an enticing way for the less fortunate to consume these products.
We hope the Disney+ app will soon make it to our local market and offer affordable prices so that more people may have access to what Disney has for all of us in the near future.
