MediaTek has just unveiled the MediaTek Dimensity 1050 chipset. The new chipset is the company’s first to feature dual mmWave 5G and sub-6Hz connectivity.
The new Dimensity 1000-series SoC is built on a 6nm process and features an octa-core setup. The company revealed that it has two Arm Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked at 2.5GHz.
Additionally, it has an Arm Mali-G610 GPU coupled with the MediaTek HyperEngine 5.0. The new chipset also supports UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5 memory.
As far as the display goes, it supports up to FHD+ display with up to 144Hz refresh rate. It also supports AV1 video decoding, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision.
The support for mmWave 5G and sub-6GHz allows manufacturers to choose from one or the other spectrum. Additionally, it supports WiFi 6E and a 2×2 MIMO antenna.
The first smartphones powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1050 are said to arrive in Q3 of 2022.
