Nothing previously confirmed that the Nothing phone (1) is coming. In a recent interview with Wallpaper, Nothing’s Head of Design, Tom Howard mentioned that “From a design perspective, we really wanted to bring the inside out.”
This hints at a transparent design that the company has already used for the Nothing ear (1). Among the elements that the company wants to highlight on the upcoming phone are things like the camera and the wireless charging coil.
Howards adds, “From an industry perspective, you’re looking at components that the end user normally never sees, so you almost have to overhaul the entire manufacturing process in order to highlight them.”
Meanwhile, Pei mentioned in the interview with the publication, “Phone (1) and Ear (1) will clearly be from the same family and as we fill in the rest of our product portfolio, we will maintain the same philosophy.”
Despite hints at the design and some of its features, the company and its executives remain tight-lipped about the Nothing phone (1) and its inner workings. Albeit, Pei mentioned that the frame will be made from recycled aluminum to reduce its initial carbon footprint.
